Botox®, or botulinum toxin, is the most popular way to reduce wrinkles on the face other than undergoing a facelift. This noninvasive procedure can smooth out frown lines, crow’s feet, furrows along the forehead, and skin bands on the neck to help you look more refreshed and less tired.
Performed in a simple, quick, in-office procedure, injections of Botox® Cosmetic block the nerve signals that make your muscles contract. This temporarily relaxes the muscles and thereby smooths out your unwanted facial wrinkles.

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time (temporary).
BOTOX® Cosmetic is administered by a healthcare professional as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between the brows. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows. Individual results may vary. Learn more.

Botox® Cosmetic Frequently Asked Questions
How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?
Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. Your own results may vary – be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about what you can expect and when to schedule your next appointment.
How long before I see results from Botox?
Most patients begin to see the results of their Botox treatment within a few days. The full results become apparent over the course of two to three weeks.
Who can get Botox?
Botox injections are approved for most patients from the ages of 18 to 65. You don’t need to have wrinkles to start using Botox as a preventive measure! Schedule your consultation at CHRONOS MedSpa to find out whether Botox is right for you.
Does Botox hurt?
While no injection is ever truly painless, Dr. Mace Scott, Dr. Shannon Pickens, and our caring, experienced CHRONOS MedSpa staff do all we can to minimize pain both during and following your Botox treatment.
How long does Botox last?
Botox is classified as a “temporary” treatment. However, visible results can last for up to four months! You’ll work with Dr. Mace Scott or Dr. Shannon Pickens to determine the right date for your next appointment.
Will Botox make my face “numb,” “paralyzed” or “frozen”?
One Botox safety concern that we often hear from our patients is that the injections will “paralyze” or “freeze” their faces. Dr. Mace Scott and Dr. Shannon Pickens take care to apply the amount of Botox suited to the size of your facial muscles, helping avoid a “frozen” look in favor of a naturally rested, relaxed face that moves when you’re moved to laugh, cry, or smile.
As for numbing, Botox works to block nerve impulses to certain facial muscles — but it’s important to understand that the injections do not affect facial sensation.
Does Botox have side effects?
Most patients experience few to no side effects after Botox injections. Some side effects common among those who do notice a reaction are: pain or bruising at the injection site; temporary drooping or puffiness of the eyelid; and fatigue.
Dr. Mace Scott, Dr. Shannon Pickens, and the staff of experienced medical providers at CHRONOS make sure to take your full medical history and discuss any potential complications with you in full before you decide to work with us.
