Looking for a quick “ pick me up”? Now you can get the lift (and the lips!) you’ve been looking for with Restylane®.

The Restylane® family (Restylane®, Lyft®, Silk®, Defyne®, and Refyne®) are injectable fillers that provide facial rejuvenation and beauty enhancement for a natural and more youthful appearance. It is composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin and other tissues. Hyaluronic Acid has a chemical structure similar in many ways to sugar and is identical in all species and in all tissue types, making Restylane® very safe and well tolerated products.

Restylane® is perfect for the sensitive lower eyelid area and lip edge. Restylane® works immediately by adding volume to smooth away wrinkles. A clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid, Restylane® is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own hyaluronic acid. It is commonly used to visibly reduce moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, and to add fullness to your lips. Restylane® can also be injected in the tear trough area to reduce hollowness and dark circles, so you no longer “look tired” and never have to use concealer to cover up the darkness again!

Restylane® Frequently Asked Questions

What is the treatment like?

During the procedure, the treatment provider will cleanse your face, and prepare the treatment area with injection scores, or marks. You may request a local anesthetic, or if you choose Restylane-L®, lidocaine is already in the gel to be injected. The clear gel is injected into the marked treatment area, using an ultra-fine needle. Your treatment provider will then cleanse the area again, and apply cold compresses if necessary. There is little to no downtime, and Restylane® results can be seen immediately.

The “Restylane® Regimen” is a treatment plan of follow-up injections in order to get the most out of the Restylane® injections. For most facial enhancements, it is recommended to have subsequent injections every 4-9 months.

Should there be an overfill issue after a treatment, both products can be adjusted with an enzyme called hyaluronidase that can be injected and softens the unwanted fullness.

When will I see results?

The Restylane® family of products instantly adds volume to help restore youthful contours, so you could see results immediately following your treatment!

What are some of the common side effects?

The most common side effects may be swelling, redness, pain, bruising, and tenderness, and usually only last one week for facial filling, and up to 14 days for lip enhancement. Swelling is more likely in patients under 36 years of age, and bruising is more likely in patients over 35 years of age. Rarely, red or swollen bumps may occur, and if the gel is injected directly into a blood vessel, this may cause skin damage.

If you experience these side-effects, cold compresses may be used to reduce the swelling. You should avoid touching the treated area for at least 6 hours after injection, and avoid sun, and heat exposure.

Who is a good candidate for Restylane®?

Products in the Restylane® family should not be used by people with previous bad allergies, particularly to microorganisms known as gram-positive bacteria, or by people with serious allergies to drugs that have previously required in-hospital treatment.

These products should not be used by people with bleeding disorders, by anyone with a known allergy to lidocaine, during pregnancy, when breastfeeding, or in patients under 18 years for nasolabial folds and under 21 years for lips.

What should I tell my treatment provider before having a treatment with a product from the Restylane® family?

Tell your treatment provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning to become pregnant or breastfeed, or have any serious allergies or bleeding disorders. You should also tell your treatment provider if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores. He or she may prescribe a medication to minimize recurrence. You should also tell him or her if you have recently used aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St John’s Wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
