An anti-aging treatment that’s gentler than laser skin resurfacing and other ablative skin therapies, microneedling (also known as micro-needling, dermarolling, derma rolling, or collagen induction therapy) is an FDA-approved, effective way to increase collagen and elastin production in the skin.
Collagen and elastin are the proteins that give skin the appearance of being plump, full, and taut — so encouraging your skin to produce these proteins through microneedling can actually help reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and other scarring.
Microneedling can also help reduce the appearance of sun spots and age spots, and diminish other types of brown pigmentation, including melasma.

Is microneedling safe?
Performed correctly by your CHRONOS Med Spa aesthetician, microneedling is one of the safest approaches to encourage natural skin renewal.
Your medical aesthetician will guide you through the treatment process and go over any required microneedling aftercare with you. Generally, you will need to stay out of the sun and avoid using products containing Vitamin A (like Retin-A, Differin, and Tazorac) for a period of time both before and after your treatment.
Whereas laser skin treatments are not always a recommended option for those with darker skin, microneedling is usually an excellent option for all skin tones.
What body parts does microneedling work on?
For many people, microneedling is an effective treatment for acne scars, uneven skin texture, wrinkles, and fine lines on the face. However, microneedling can also be applied to skin on other areas of the body — including the arms, legs, and abdomen.
How long do the effects of microneedling last?
Because the skin works slowly to repair itself, your microneedling results can last for a long time. You may continue to see improvement in your skin for up to six months after your microneedling session(s)!
